Your two companions, along with the rest of Thalia familia on the wagon were increasing the gap between you and them. You stayed closed to the axe beak which had since changed its focus from the wagon, to now just you and your horse. The axe beak continued to squawk. Much further behind you, you notice that the other axe beak never took chase and was becoming a much smaller dot in the distance. This axe beak chasing you however, didn't seem to want to give up, especially with the fact that it had been closing the gap between it and yourself through the chase.

Through the chase, you noted that the axe beak continued to chase after you with more and more vigor. It was already wounded when you had first came upon it, but it didn't seem to mind those wounds at all. Saliva began to drool from its mouth sometime in the fight, and the creature seemed eerily intent on chasing you down.[/info]

The wounds on the axe beak looked pretty bad. Sections of its feathers were torn away completely, and claw marks were on it. The wounds where the claw marks were were blistering, and were slightly green.[/info]

Ciara, noticing the bird following her and not the cart, looked at the cart then back at the bird and smiled. She stopped the horse and jumped off, still holding her sword. She then stepped forward pulling her shield out. She watched the axe beak as it charged and calmed herself as she stepped forward."You are sick! Come, let the power of Dian Cecht heal you of your afflictions."

Ciara held her shield up and blocked the bird's attempt to bite her. She then raised her sword and attempted to bring it down on the bird.

The fresh wound inflicted on the bird looked different from what you would have expected. While there was still blood, there wasn't as much blood as you thought would have spurted out, and the flesh underneath its skin looked pretty sickly as well. The axe beak showed now signs of relenting though, even though that wound looked pretty lethal. It followed up with a bite.
