《Chapter 13: The Battle of Tathi Village》

Changing back into her dragon-form, with you hoping on her back, Valeriya took off. Strong gusts of winds blew from below her as she continued to gain elevation. You saw them high above you, the forms of dragon on knights, with the knights casting spells or using their bows to fire. The Wind Priests had a similar tactic, though, more often than not, had their birds engaged with the small flying demons. There were already a couple of Wind Priests who were no longer around, and you remember seeing some bodies of birds and priests back on the ground. The knights on the other hand kept a tight formation.

Three dragonknights broke off the main group then started to swoop down, meeting you as you started to rise up. It was then that you heard Valeriya's voice in your head.

Three knights you were with before. Indeed, it was Thurston, Braxton, and one of the other dragonknights that you had trained with.

"Hero Rosalie!" It was Thurston who called out. "We've kept a tight and close formation. The Wind Priests though... individually they're powerful, but they're too aggressive! There's another thing too." Thurston said grimly.

"We're heavily outnumbered. There's at least 500 of the flying things up here! This is the first time we're flying with our dragon companions in battle... And communication has been difficult."

You felt Valeriya's displeasure as a sort of emotion. You heard her voice explain.

Ah damn. Each of the dragons have a simple mental link with the other dragons. Valeriya explained. Not as strong as the ones we have with our rider of course, but it's enough to convey orders from the commanders to the rest of the dragonknight fleet. I'm the oldest dragon here... Everyone had just only reached 50, or just a bit older. It would make sense that they're having difficulty with relaying information concisely.

Oath

"Looks like we'll have to turn this one around then. Let's return to the knights and rally them. Perhaps the wind priests will follow suit if they see what we can do." Rosalie has Valeriya fly up towards the group of knights and the battle raging around them. "Men! Gather around. We are going to turn this around and carve a path through our enemies!"

She played a song on her bass guitar, hoping that the soldiers would feel empowered by her tune.

You along with the three other knights ascended back to the skies, and back into the defensive formation. The Wind Priests on the other hand, were reckless in their dives and attacks. Though they seemed to be killing the demons with gusto, you could tell many of them were injured just as easily as well.

QuoteSince you're back in the Commander's chair, I want you to take over the rolls for your army. If you want to attempt to take control of the remaining Wind Priests, RP it out with a social skill roll (diplomacy, intimidate, bluff).

There are four armies in the skies. Dragonknight Trainees, Wind Priest Instructors, Small Flying Demon Army 1, and Small Flying Demon Army 2, both consisting of 250 units.

Rosalie to state target of Dragonknight Trainees, and roll their Offensive Check (1d20+OM)

QuoteYou rolled high enough to be able to command them. They are changing Strategy track from Reckless to Aggressive. If you want to attempt to change their Strategy track by two steps, then declare it. If that check fails, they remain at Reckless. The status below is as if they were Aggressive, but I can update that depending on this choice. Also assuming your action for casting blizzard occurs for multiple rounds for multiple casts. Battlefield for flying units are much larger than ground units.

The Wind Priests took to your formation, with the ones who were still surviving taking point, and firing off their spells as they could. You had begun casting a blizzard as well, placing it in key locations where the small flying demons were. You successfully lead both the knights and the priests away from the raging blizzard you had created. Even though it was perhaps in the fall, it felt more like winter with how cold, chilly, and darkened the skies became due to your castings.

QuoteRosalie to Roll Offense Modifier for both Dragonknight Trainees and Wind Priest Instructors. Declare the targets too (Small Flying Demon Army 1 or Small Flying Demon Army 2).

If you are doing other actions, such as casting more blizzards, state that as well. The previous battle phase consumed 650 MP, with 10 minutes total of a raging blizzard interspersed between the fighting.

Oath

Rosalie joined her troops in the attack, sending every able body after the army they were already engaged with.

Both your armies continually to slay the small flying demons. You didn't lose that many, but the opposing side had lost hundreds. The battle was definitely going in your favor. Half the demons were destroyed.

It was then that you managed to pick out the sounds of yelling, different from the commands and shouts of your own dragonknights and priests flying with you. It was about 500 ft. below, but with the help of Valeriya's perception share, you were able to figure out that it was the other hero, Jean, calling out for you. Picking out his words through the high winds was tough, and you were surprised with the very fact you were able to even notice him at all from this elevation. Jean was calling for you.

As the battle continued, you noticed that the villagers had begun to move out. Jean was at the front of the pack, and he looked like he was pulling a string of wagons behind him.

It was a completely one-sided battle as both the dragonknights and wind priests began to route the opposing army of flying demons. Soon enough the rest of the demons began to panic and had begun to escape for their lives. There was a single one of the demons, who was slightly larger than the rest who continued to roar orders towards the rest of them, but no one was listening to him. It didn't take long for one of your men and the priests to capture that demon.
