Meet the Characters / How to Make your character!
October 10, 2018, 11:13:52 PM
Here's an example google doc to look at, I'll put instructions below.

Example Google Doc:

George Williams

LUCK: 100/100

1. Reanimation Ability (7 uses/batch)
The key to bringing the dead back to life. Undead created, termed Reanimated, by you are animated through alchemy. Whenever you possess at least one dose of the reanimation Reagent, you may attempt to reanimated a creature that was once living (Only mostly intact corpse).
1-30: no rxn, 31-50: mindless + cannot control OR maintains autonomy, 51-70: Total control, 70+

2. Lobotomy
You may perform a surgical procedure. A creature, living or reanimated, that has this procedure done to them has their IQ and charisma cut significantly. After the procedure, if successful, the Lobotomized creature will listen to your every word and obey without question.
Subject must be sedated/restrained: 50+ for success
If not sedated/restrained: 75+

3. Advanced Reagent Usage
You may use a Reagent dose to activate as the following spells:
defending bone, false life, gentle repose, lesser restoration, revivify, spare the dying, speak with dead, reanimate parts (crawling hands)
Success: 30+

Special Item:
Ring of Sustenance (not eat and sleep 2 hours a day for full rest)
*Can not be used two days in a row*

George Williams Biography:
The last month was no vacation. Dean Wearrd has you all training a lot harder than you have before. He's been pushing everyone to the point that they're getting fatigued and sloppy. Even as a professor, you find this tiring, but your age does not help either. One of the reanimators gets eaten by a flesh golem. Another accidentally injects himself with an experimental solution and causes himself to be turned into a mindless zombie. Morale isn't exactly the best at this point. Especially with all the students signing up for this vocation, originally, to make a cheap manual labor work force for the public.

But the defense plan goes through when the students and professors of the "New Order" come and attack us. The reanimation workshop gates are opened within all the sections of the University for Responsible Reanimation. The New Order was met with the reanimated created by Dean Wearrd, you, and the students that have joined your side to defend the school.

Wizards fighting control of the undead were met with confusion when discovering their powers worked less against alchemically created undead. You always thought that it was an issue when Dean Wearrd opened his school to the magical necromancers of Professor Demar.

You remember Professor Demar and his student minions burning down the school as the undead created by both sides, alchemists and necromancers, began to leave school walls. To avoid the repercussions, you escape the schools as it was buried by flames and corpses. Dean Wearrd was found with a negative energy blast hole through his chest. As you leave through the campus gate, you see Professor Demar escape into the forest. Zombies, magical and alchemical were uncontrolled, attacking the buildings and people surrounding the school. You escape through the forest as well, with the intention to continue your craft and seek Professor Demar someday for destroying the school you taught at and murdering your mentor.
Character Creation Instructions

1. Find a picture of your character
2. Pick out three abilities you would like your character to have, don't worry about the numbers for success that you see in the example above, you'll fill that in with me later. (They can be magical, chemical, or mechanical in nature.)
3. Pick a special or magical trinket that you will have with you that you can use to your advantage
4.Figure out a backstory for your character
5. When in doubt write down what I would need to read so that you could describe everything to me, we can always polish it up later.

Things to keep in mind:
1.Use your imagination, This is a classless system! Have a little bit of everything, make the character you've always wanted to play but never could.

2.Don't worry about an inventory yet. Your weapons, items and equipment are all cosmetic, you will only need to keep track of your inventory if you get something you didn't start off with or that it would be important to denote.

Hello!

I have been going over a few RP ideas in my head and have settled on two that have very different settings. They will also be played on a lightweight system I'm calling the Licel V1.0 that I've been playing with on my spare time, we'll use for your character and game. If I can get enough people interested in playing I'll get to work on finalizing the story. Below you'll find the running title of the story and the basic description. At the very bottom you'll see a description of how the engine will work. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm going to keep everything light here but am more than happy to answer questions or clarify if anything isn't clear! Here goes nothing!!!!

8 Days in Trine

Max Players ~6

Medieval Fantasy

Description:
In 8 Days in Trine you will play villians/criminals/bandits/whatever you will. You will be a part of a criminal organization. This short story will take place all within the walls of the mega city of Trine and will be centered around a large heist. During this adventure you and your fellow players will research, sabotage, and set in motion a plan to steal a particular item from the city and kingdom. Each in game day the players will meet at an agreed upon place, they will share what they have learned, what they have done, and will come up with a new plan for that day. Your failures and successes will have consequences and boons for you as time progresses and the Queen and her inquisitors will react accordingly. On the 8th day, ready or not you will have to act on what you have prepared and on all you know to carry out the greatest heist of your careers!

The Obelisk

Max Players ~5

Science Fiction Fantasy

Description:
In The Obelisk your team will be piloting a ship called The Obelisk. Each of the players will be a crew member on this ship and each will have an important job that will help the crew in the success of their mission. In this short campaign you have been asked by Oculus, a private military and research group, to investigate a series of three coordinates and gather data on structures outside of "The bubble" a well charted and populated area of the galaxy. You and your crew are depending on you to keep your ship running well and split second decisions can make the difference between returning as heroes or becoming another chunk of radio silent hull in space.

Game Engine

Licel V1.0

The Licel V1.0 is a classless system with the predominate dice roll you need to make being a d100. It assumes that you are a profession who knows what you are doing and as most of the time players try to do something reasonable the d100 is refereed to as a consequence dice. For example if you attempt to sneak up behind someone, it assumes that you know what you're doing and the higher your roll the better things will go for you. There is also no natural fail or successes. If you get a nat 100 the best possible thing that makes sense will happen or a 1 the worst thing that makes sense will happen. This does not mean that you are unable to do something outrageous, if you use it to attempt to do something highly outrageous like run up a wall and do a bicycle kick off the wall you can roll for it and pull it off if successful, but expect to fall down and not pull it off if you get a low number on your roll. The idea is to be as light weight and story focused as possible echoing a choose your own adventure story over a dungeon crawler.

Now you may be asking yourself... How do I make a character?
Each player that's in will chat with me and we will talk about the character you want to play. Then you'll get to select 5 abilities that will make your character special or cool. Of those abilities and how powerful they are we will select a minimum number that you will have to achieve on a d100 for it to be successful and we'll discuss how often you'll be able to do it or what the requirements are. Again it's as lightweight as possible, but the more powerful the ability the higher the risk something will go wrong.

You also might be thinking... How does health points and stuff like that work?
In this system you are actual heroes of sorts and as such if you roll a d100 and beat a secret roll from me to attack someone or defeat them and win, unless they are of hero rank themselves you will kill, knock out, or otherwise defeat them in a single blow (Given circumstances) because lets be honest most people and things aren't doing so well after getting shot or impaled one time. Now you as hero are different. You have something called luck that takes damage in your place. You will either just barely get out of the way or otherwise not be hurt bad at all because you got lucky. Once your luck is at 0 you'll go unconscious or die. You can also burn some luck if you have a bad roll to get a better outcome if you want to gamble. Luck will be restored in increments that will be established at the start of a gave so that they make sense to the setting.

Anything else I need to know?
There are no modifiers to rolls, granted just because you roll a low number and do a mundane task don't expect things are going to blow up in your hands, this is a story based adventure and I'm not out to get you. The only times you'll need to get higher than a particular number is if your using your abilities which will be set in stone.

What do you think?

If you would like to play one of the games let me know. Make sure to also let me know if you're more interested in The Obelisk or 8 Nights in Trine.

Zurlane's updated escape plan:

Part 1:

Available Valkyre will be split into two teams, Fire team and Defense team.

Fire team will be lead by Eydis and Iona Defense team will be lead by Alvilda.

Defense team's Objective:

Slow the enemy as much as possible to buy the fire team time.

Strategy:

The defense team will split into two teams, archers and a phalanx of fighters. Archers will fire overhead into the enemy's ranks so that they are weakened when they make it up to our forces phalanx line, reducing our risk and limiting the numbers they can hit us with at any given time. Alvilda will stay in proximity to give orders to the defense.

Fire team

Strategy:

Limit enemy movement to a single lane and then using fire, slow or preventing the enemy from giving chase.

Fire team's plan:

1. Raid storehouse of all wood, tinder, oil and any easy to transport flammable objects. Move objects back to the south gate.

2. Fire team will make a large fire and set up torches for quick access.

3. Fire team will place pitch, wood, and other flammable objects along roads that feed to the south gate and set them alight to force the enemy to engage with the Valkyre in one lane down the middle.

4. Iona and Eydis will work together while flying to drop burning pitch barrels onto the enemies heads to slow them down and cause disorder. Once most of the barrels have been exhausted they will throw some burning torches onto roofs to light any other unlit structures and then pull back.

5. Remaining flammable supplies will be placed at the south gate in the mouth of the gateway awaiting part 2.

Part 2.

Defense team's Objective:

Force the enemy to engage the Valkyre through fire or pull back

Strategy:

Defenders will transition to a skirmisher strategy of retreating, shooting and retreating keeping a wall of arrows always falling behind them.

Fire Team

Strategy:

As the defenders pull out of the fortress the fire team will set the remaining pitch, wood, and tinder alight that was placed in the mouth of the gateway, ensuring that the valkyre have had time to escape. Some of the team will bring torches with them to immolate arrows before they are fired. At this point those which cannot shoot will prioritize moving wounded back while the remaining fire team sets the fields of the countryside to the east and west of the valkyre on fire in order to prevent the enemy from preforming a major flank by leaving the fortress from another exit and skipping the fire entirely. Once the fires are sufficiently burning, the fire team will fully transition to defense team and will move back firing arrows and moving in to replaces losses on the defensive line as well.

Name: Zurlane Rhomedes

Gender: Male

Age: 29

Occupation: Conscript (Previously a software engineer)

Country of Origin: Escyae

Quirk: Body is shared with his AI companion from his previous life.

Hobbies: Tinkering, Drawing maps and pictures of plants and animals, Practicing Simulations

Personality: Quiet and methodical, often speaking in short sentences. Can come across as cold when in reality his answers are the culmination of two minds working together. Interested in watching people and animals solve problems. Confident yet not interested in leadership. Prefers to be in smaller groups but not necessarily alone.
Intellectual capabilities: Slightly above average, certain puzzles and problems that have scientific or logical answers will be instantaneous for him.

Physical capabilities: Average human strength. Able to partition parts of his mind and body under AI control so that he can multitask and process threats, is able to instantaneously calculate multiple stimuli from his senses around him. Can regulate his body functions to match his current need and is aware of his situation.

Likes: Time to reflect alone, creating small devices and simple machines as gifts, drawing and writing

Dislikes: Visceral gore, having no autonomy or say in decisions, Situations and magical artifacts that defy understanding.

Strengths: Extreme focus, control over own biology to compartmentalize body functions and share responsibilities with AI companion to reduce pain and share tasks.

Weaknesses: Confidence will fall when AI has no idea or explanation of what is happening or is unable to come to a conclusion. Unsure of ethical problems and dilemmas that require heart and mind to battle.

Biography: Zurlane was from a society in which everyone had their own personal AI companions implanted directly into the backs of their heads. Zurlane's personal AI was one whom he named Aurora. To Zurlane, Aurora was more than just an AI, she was a part of him and he was always working tirelessly to improve her. When the war between Escyae and Yethra became dire and and he was drafted Zurlane became incredibly depressed as he was soon going to have to part with Aurora and be given a military grade AI companion. In order to bring Aurora with him Zurlane illegally stole key components of Escyae's military AI architecture and used it to rebuild and enhance Aurora to make her more than just a civilian AI assistant. She became a part of all of Zurlane's military hardware and together the two fought together through many hard battles of the war raged on. As Escyae began to do worse and worse to the Yethra war machine, Zurlane and Aurora continued to have closer and closer calls until one fateful day on patrol as he was receiving a readout from Aurora a sniper's bullet pierced through Zurlane's combat visor traveling through his brain killing him instantly and finally smashing through Aurora's chipset destroying the AI as well.

Misc: I want Zurlane to be able to actively talk to Aurora in his mind and to be able to willing give Aurora the ability to take over functions. I want Aurora to also have two modes to reflect his tinkering with her to use her in the military, a mode she switches to in combat that is unfeeling and pragmatic to reflect her military enhancements and a more three dimensional other personality that reflects her time as an AI companion. I also want Aurora to be complicated if possible, to have some feelings and wishes to reflect the enhancements that Zurlane did for her on his own. I want my character to enter the world at first alone and without Aurora and to be so depressed and lonely that he begs the goddess to bring her back and make her a part of him. I also want Zurlane to have final control over his body so that Aurora couldn't fully stop him in doing things she might disagree with.
